Talk Talk Talk gets Cheaper and Cheaper

I sit and watch PBS Newshour, BBC News, 60 Minutes, CNN MSNBC, Fox News, and I notice that the majority of time spent by the news anchors, hosts and their guests, is speculation and opinion, not actually reporting on policy.

There was a time when a person's word meant something. Even to go as far as legally binding. Back when everyone feared punishment by a deity for "bearing false witness," until the Fairness Doctrine was revoked under President Reagan in 1986. It was the end of ethics in broadcast media.

Print had been corrupted since before Edward Bernays published his book Propaganda in 1928, perhaps all the way back to when the railroad barons hired journalists to be their Public Relations operatives.

Now, old people still cling to what the talking-heads in the main-stream media say, and take their words as truth. It's an old habit that cannot be shaken off by the Baby Boomers, so they vote the way they are told to vote, instead of checking what was said, with what was actually done.

This may account for why more people try to resolve their differences through violence instead of discourse. The authority of language has been so diminished by cynicism, by deception, that physical violence seems to be the only compensation. The increase in mass-shootings are finally beginning to change people's minds, after decades of ignoring warnings from groups like Moms Demand Action for Gun Sense in America.

Young people gained the benefit of the Internet, to verify what's being said, with the behavior of those who say it. At least until Net Neutrality goes away, which may be this December (2017).

New generations in the age of the Internet peeled away the veneer of false propaganda, distortion of history, "alternative facts," and in so doing, like staring into the eyes of Medusa, became inflicted with stony irreverence.

What will become of our world after this? The Internet opened Pandora's box and gave us a taste of what it's like to be truly informed and able to hold deceivers accountable. What will we do when the powers that be, finally close the box?

Optics on Russia influencing Michigan and Wisconsin Look Bad

It's well known that Hillary lost Michigan, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania during the 2016 campaign for President:

Lo and behold, the story has now shifted to Russia influencing social media in Michigan and Wisconsin.

As of about 11:00 am 10/05/2017, Politico may have dodged a bullet by not picking up and running the "CNN exclusive."

If you have an ounce of critical thinking skills, you would know the source of the messages is irrelevant as long as the messages can stand on their own evidence. Was the alleged "Russian influence" authentic? None of the aforementioned news media outlets seem to care.

Mainstream Media Blackouts in a "Democracy."

The Mainstream media is not as competitive as they would like you to believe. You can gather a lot of information by not only looking at who and what they are covering, but also by who and what they are going out of their way to avoid. Here are some articles on the stories they deliberately avoided:

You soon may never be able to know important facts that are being ignored or suppressed by the owners of the Mainstream Media as they crush the Internet.

Now that Trump and the Republicans have control over what happens at the F.C.C. Net Neutrality and Internet Freedom are quickly facing a major crackdown.

News Bias Reporting Police Incidents.

In a bid to compete with the Internet, main-stream media (MSM) reports what they see in posted YouTube videos without reporting the facts of the events that lead up to the point where someone starts recording the police apprehending a suspect.

While the MSM may later report the full facts of the case in the format of boring courtroom testimony, the public are still only left with the part of the impression that police just show up for no apparent reason and cause trouble.

What is the mission of news organizations which report incidents involving police showing up at block parties, pool parties, taking down someone selling cigarettes outside a bodega, or beating someone on the Interstate?

What is the mission of news organizations which focus reporting police incidents involving African Americans? Do they intentionally reinforce psychological segregation?

Religion and Free Speech

Churches currently are exempt from paying taxes which keeps around seventy billion dollars from the United States Treasury, When Lyndon Johnson was running for senator his opponent was openly supported by a religious organization, so he proposed the Johnson Amendment which passed without any debate because they didn't think it really affected people. The Johnson Amendment essentially gagged tax-exempt organizations like churches from participating in politics under threat of losing their tax-exempt status.

Silencing religion in this way keeps religion out of the public eye. The unintended consequences of suppressing public debate about faith is that faith sometimes loses control of itself, and the public doesn't hear about it until it's too late. See Religious Scandals. Without a forum for public scrutiny and lack of news media coverage, religion can go completely whack and people will die.

Now President Trump has signed an executive order giving religion a little more freedom to express their political preferences. A lot of groups are opposed to the idea, but the upside will be a brighter spotlight on religion.
