ALT NEWS

Alternative News was once Mimeographed and circulated on college campuses, stapled to wooden power poles, or sent by direct mail to subscribers who luckily saw an ad for the publication in another magazine or by word of mouth at local club meetings. It was also called "underground" news and sometimes it was made famous by the main-stream media, such as Black Panther News (See: Freedom Archives). See also "Street Newspaper" (Wikipedia)

Thanks to the Internet, anyone can publish anything as news. One must look for the hyperbole, obfuscation, weasel words, omissions, and other types of deception.

There are some Fact-checking sites, but they are not entirely without bias.
